Following the outstanding success of the inaugural State of Origin in 2025, we’re excited to once again bring Australia’s Masters disc golfers together for this unique interstate (and overseas) team competition. Proudly presented by Outright Plumbing and held as the official lead-in to the 2026 Aussie Masters, the State of Origin is your chance to proudly represent your state or territory, enjoy some friendly rivalry, and help kick off an unforgettable weekend of Masters disc golf.
Introduction
The State of Origin competition was a big part of the 2025 Aussie Masters so it had to return for 2026.
It was such a fun way to practice the course and worked well as a social mixer. The cards were composed of players from different states so lots of players played with players they have not had the opportunity to in the past. At the completion of the event we had presentations and more social activities at the MX Golf Club. It was a fantastic way to start the weekend.
We are bringing all of that back for 2026.
Thanks and praise to Robert Lambert who came up with the bones of the format in 2025 and Alex Evans for bringing it all together and managing the comp. Alex will be the man behind the curtain again in 2026.
The Venue
We will be playing one of the Aussie Masters layouts at Macquarie Woods Disc Golf Course
More information will be sent out to registered players in the lead up to the event.
Cost: $15
There will be a small fee to play this event to help cover the costs of prizes trophies and some course bling for the Aussie Masters State of Origin. A payment link will be sent to registered players in the lead up to the event.
The Schedule
Friday Oct 2nd.
9am – 12:00 State of origin round.
12:30 – 3:00PM Lunch, presentations and more social activities at the Beekeeper’s Inn.
We had considered a later start to the event but the Beekeeper is only open until 3pm and we wanted to leave the course fully open for those who wanted to practice it on the Friday afternoon.
The format
This will be a teams format. More information on the format and scoring will be sent out leading up to the event but it will be similar to the 2025 event. That worked really well.
The teams and scoring
The teams will be put together closer to the event and will be based on the information by players when they register for the Metrics event and supply us with information on their clubs and or state.
We may have to make some tweaks to balance things out but will work with the playing group to make sure everyone involved is ok with the changes.
Scoring will be using the Metrix app, but not in the usual way given that this will be match-play scoring. It will be explained in more detail leading up to the event.
